A complete stranger just called me a slut (among many other colorful and choice insults) while I was looking at pregnancy tests. As a woman, I am heartbroken for her, heartbroken for her young daughter, and heartbroken for an entire culture that automatically assumes far too much, and judges far too quickly. My situation is completely inconsequential to her desire and ability to judge my morals, as she made clear in our very short exchange. All I can come away with: if we, as a society, can’t stop assuming or inferring ANYTHING about the moral standings of EVERYONE else, and stop teaching and spreading hate of every kind, we are absolutely doomed to destroy ourselves. My feelings aren’t hurt, but I feel sick, at the thought that the little girl I saw will grow into that hatred herself. I wish I could have hugged her and asked her to choose love. #bootyrevolution
